In her February 2019 cover story for InStyle, Melissa McCarthy pretty much reveals that Billy Bush once body shamed her during an interview in 2011.
“I do remember another interview I did for Bridesmaids with somebody who later lost his job for a conversation he had on a bus with someone else,” McCarthy told the magazine. “I won’t mention names, but just think about it. He kept asking, ‘Are you shocked that you actually work in this business at your tremendous size?'”
Bush, whose leaked 2005 “Access Hollywood” bus chat with Donald Trump in 2016 grabbed his entire career by the p**sy and has yet to let go, said after the interviewer wouldn’t drop the questioning, she could feel “all the blood [drain]” out of her body. “Oh, your tremendous size, you can actually work?” McCarthy said he repeated.
“I thought, ‘With my tremendous size, I could tackle you so quickly.’ There were two cameras on him, and one was on me, and he went back to that question three or four times, and I just kept talking about the script or how fun [director] Paul Feig was,” McCarthy continued. “He was looking around like, ‘She’s crazy.'”
For our “Bridesmaids” radio roundtable in April of that year, the only “tremendous” thing discussed was the amount of personal touches McCarthy brought to Megan that were not on the page, the amount of pressure placed on maid of honor duties and the number of scenes that did not make the film.
The actress also explains why she adopted a No New Friends rule at her own wedding.
