‘They Made Olive Make Sense’: Emma Stone Recalls Brilliance of ‘Easy A’s’ Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson

Emma Stone made a significant power move eight years ago today with the release of her film “Easy A,” a critically acclaimed, smartly-written teen comedy about the ramifications of hanging on to one’s virginity in high school. Stone’s Olive wasn’t the typical angsty teen, and her parents were the exact opposite of your average overbearing on-screen mom and dad.

During the film’s press junket, Stone said she had no choice but to elevate her game with the presence of Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson as her parents. The veterans had already been close friends, having starred together in 2000’s “Joe Gould’s Secret” and 2007’s “Blind Date.” Their rapport, Stone said, informed both her laid-back approach to Olive, and Olive’s laid-back approach to the circus surrounding her fake loss of virginity..
